To minimize underground water consumption, the department proposed a plan to consume pre-existing natural water bodies in Basirhat at a cost of INR 4.41 crores.
INR 4,370 Crore budget for Thane Municipality development:
Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has announced its budget of INR 4,370 crore, which will give priority to city beautification, pothole repair, waste management, and healthcare facility improvement. The DPR for the expansion of water supply under AMRUT 2 has received approval from the central government, and the budget will be shared with the central government (25%), state government (25%), and municipal corporation (50%). The budgetary allocations are made for a new waste collection system (INR 84 crores), a waste transfer station (INR 23 crore), and a new waste treatment plant at Daighar (INR 45 crore), for treating and clearing the waste dumped at the Diva dumping ground (INR 10 crore), road-cleaning works (INR 85 crore), renovation and reconstruction of 762 toilets (INR 81 crore), road works (INR 300 crore), city beautification work (INR 30 crore), and traffic control (INR 3 crore).
Under river road tunnel project across the Hooghly river:
The Kolkata Port Trust, renamed Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port (SMP), is to execute an under-river road tunnel to add pace to cargo movement between the city-dock at Kolkata Port and the national highway, across the Hooghly River, which connects to states in the north and south of the State. A consultant will be appointed to assess financial feasibility of the Project. In sync with the PM's Gati Shakti national plan, this project is to be executed over the next two financial years, and this will be initiated by NHAI and the state government. The estimated budget for this under-river road tunnel is Rs. 1,700 crore.
