• Procurement Expenditure in Maharashtra :

  Though Maharastra is the second most populous State in India, it's economy is ranked at the top at USD 350 Billion USD for the year 2019-2020¹.  When the Government expenditure is estimated at 12% of the GDP², the procurement expenditure of Maharashtra in value terms amounts to USD 73.5 Billion USD. • INR 48 crore to upgrade Jawaharlal Nehru Port Hospital :

  The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways has approved the upgrade of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Hospital in Raigad district. This project is to be implemented in Private Public Partnership (PPP) mode. With a cost of INR 48 crores, the existing 50-bed secondary care hospital will be upgraded to a 100-bed multi-specialty hospital, with the capability to treat many different types of illnesses and conditions. With its infrastructure and amenities, the hospital will provide patients with comprehensive medical services under one roof, including emergency care, diagnosis, treatment, surgery, and OPD services.

• INR 1200 Crore for development of 34 villages in PMC:

  A sum of INR 1200 Crore is being allocated for development of the 34 villages recently merged with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The PMC is preparing a plan for development of 11 out of the 34 villages, while the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority is preparing the plan for the remaining 23 villages. The development work will include various schemes, including water supply and sewage management.

• Clear ash ponds in Nagpur district, Maharashtra:

  The Maharashtra government has instructed the power department to take necessary measures to address the toxic ash disposal from the Koradi and Khaparkheda power plants, which is causing pollution and damaging crops in nearby villages due to overflowing fly-ash bunds. To address this issue, the government is planning to construct bunds with more advanced scientific measures and additional protection through the lining to prevent overflows. Furthermore, a new fly ash policy is expected to be introduced soon. The power department has also initiated work to establish flue-gas desulfurization (FGD), and a tender is expected to be released shortly.

• Construction of a new hospital in Mumbai:

  The Maharashtra government is contemplating the construction of a new hospital in Mumbai. The urban development department has acknowledged that the 120-year-old Kasturba Hospital is the only hospital for infectious diseases, and there was already a proposal to build a new hospital in Mulund and the suburbs. However, with the mounting patient count, the department has recognized the need for another hospital.

• INR 6,500 crores for the tunnel in Mumbai:

  The approval for the construction of an underground tunnel connecting Eastern Freeway and Marine Drive has been granted by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). The proposed tunnel road will span a length of 3.8 km and will comprise of 2+2 lines. The tunnel will be constructed under the Metro 3's Grant Road and Girgaum stations, with a depth of 30 meters via S V P Road. The project is estimated to cost INR 6,500 crores, and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) preparation has already been completed.
