Which are the peak months in which tenders are advertised in the state of Karnataka?

It is quite well known that the government operates on a yearly budget cycle. As the tax collection picks up, more funds are made available to the government to advertise their procurement needs. Hence, typically at the start of the year in the April and May months, the count of tenders advertised tends to be lower and it peaks at the end of the financial year. However, ideally the same number of tenders should be advertised in each of the 12 months in a year. The top three ranked months, by tender count are:

  1. February 2024: 28890 tenders
  2. January 2024: 21055 tenders
  3. December 2023: 20826 tenders
This analysis shows that the maximum number of tenders are advertised during the close of a financial year. At the start of a financial year, tenders advertised were quite low at 5764 tenders in April 2023, 7630 tenders in May 2023 and 9793 tenders in June 2023. The bidders will find it easier to participate in tenders when the count of tenders published during all the months are more or less the same. For this to happen, the government needs to rework its budget release procedures.
