• Procurement Expenditure in Karnataka:

  The State of Karnataka ranks 5th in India in terms of GDP, estimated at INR 18.85 lakh crores (i.e. USD 236 Billion) for the year 2022-23. Its economy is growing at a healthy pace of 9.5% (source). • Funds allocated for 20,000 smart LED street lights in Udipi:

  The Directorate of civic administration has allocated INR 24.25 crores to replace the old street lights in Udipi city under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Over 20,000 old tube lights will be replaced by energy-efficient smart LED lights that will reduce the electricity bill and maintenance cost. This smart LED lights can be used to identify defective lights from the command office.

• INR 330.40 crores for Lift Irrigation Project in Mallabad, Gulbarga, Karnataka:

  A sum of INR 330.40 Crores is allocated for the distributary works at Lift – 1 and Lift – 2 of Mallabad Lift Irrigation Project, Gulbarga, Karnataka. This fund was sanctioned in a meeting of Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Limited (KBJNL). When implemented, this project will benefit farmers in Kalaburagi and Yadgir districts.

• Comprehensive development of Bengaluru city :

  Karnataka government has planned for comprehensive development of Bengaluru city that is worth INR 9,698 crore. This comprehensive development includes the development of roads (108 km) under a high-density corridors scheme (INR 273 crore), drainage and culverts of 195 km (INR 1,813 crore), construction of around 250 well-equipped 'She Toilets', feeding rooms, mobile charging, emergency SOS services (INR 50 crore), implementing artificial intelligence in seamless signal synchronization and other functions (INR 150 crore), construction of a 5 km elevated road and an integrated flyover from Yeshwanthpur railway station to Mathikere and BEL Road (INR 350 crore), constructing white topping arterial roads of 120 km (INR 1,000 crore), development of arterial and sub-arterial roads of 300 km (INR 450 crore), and constructing 288 km ring road (INR 13,139 crore).

• INR 20,000 crores for 4 metro lines in Bangalore!:

  The Karnataka government has proposed four metro lines (two new lines and two extensions) that will cover a total distance of 59 km. Two new metro routes include MG Road to Hope Farm via Marathahalli and Whitefield, covering a distance of 16 km underground with a budget of INR 9,600 crores, and the other proposed new route will run for 25 km from Nagawara to Kempegowda International Airport via Thanisandra and Bharatiya City with an estimated cost of Rs 10,000 crore. This project is expected to be completed by 2032. A budget of INR 27 Crores is allocated for development of this project. 

• New park to be developed in Yelahanka in 184 acres of land:

  The Horticulture department will be developing a park similar to that of Cubbon Park in 184 acres of land near Yelahanka. This new park will have modern features such as Amphtheater and lake. This development will complement the initiative taken by the Government for development of a multi-purpose park in a land of 320 acres for which a sum of INR 100 crore is allocated. Besides this, the Government of Karnataka plans to develop a 100 feet tall statue made out of stones in Bettahalasur.

• Two more cybersecurity labs will be in Karnataka:

  In the budget for 2023–24, the Karnataka government included an announcement about the establishment of two cybersecurity forensic labs in Shivamogga and Tumakuru, respectively. To ensure the safety and security of government websites, online services, and data, a Cyber Security Operation Center (CSOC) staffed with cyber experts utilizing modern technology will be established. This CSOC will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The release of funds is awaited by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Bengaluru to establish the new labs.

• The BBMP will construct five flyovers:

  The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has announced its plan to build five flyovers by 2023. These five flyovers include one on Gokula Road near Mathikere (INR 40 crores), another at the Outer Ring Road - Pipeline Junction in Jalahalli (INR 40 crores), an overpass on Jayamahal Road over the Mehkri Circle underpass (INR 65 crores), one at Sadashivanagar Police Station Circle with a budget of Rs. 40 crores, and additional vents at Yelahanka Raithara Santhe Road which will cost Rs. 25 crores.

• INR 1,903 crore for the three EMCs in Karnataka:

  The central government has approved the establishment of three electronics manufacturing clusters (EMCs) covering a total area of 1,337 acres, with a projected cost of INR 1,903 crore, including central financial assistance of INR 889 crore. Two of the EMCs will be situated across Kotura and Belura villages, spreading over an area of 88.48 and 136.02 acres respectively. The third EMC will be established in the Dharwad district of Karnataka, covering an area of 224.5 acres at a cost of over INR 179 crore, including central financial assistance of over INR 89 crore. The investment target for all three EMCs is set at INR 20,910 crore. Additionally, the central government has already approved a Common Facility Centre (CFC) for the development of an advanced testing facility in Mysore, Karnataka, under the EMC 1.0 Scheme.

• Ten nuclear reactors to be installed at cost of INR 1,05,000 crore :

  The government of India has approved the installation of 10 nuclear reactors at a cost of 1,05,000 crore. These nuclear reactors, each with a capacity of 700 MW, will be set up in five states, such as Karnataka, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Among the 10 nuclear reactors, two will be installed in Kaiga, Chutka, and Gorakhpur and four will be installed in the Mahi Banswara nuclear power plant in Rajasthan. This project will increase the present power capacity from 6780 MW to 22480 MW. The government has also given "in principle" approval for more nuclear reactors to be set up in the future. The installation is expected to be complete in fleet mode by 2031, by the Department of Atomic Energy.
