Description: 1. Getting the color of epoxy paint approved by KPCL. 2. All surfaces should be prepared by sand blasting to achieve SA 2 /2.5. The external surface should be free from abrasion, blisters, peeled off surface of the old paints, rust, etc., The full surface is to be cleaned until the parent metal is suitable for painting. Necessary scaffolding shall be done by the contractor. 3. Supply and conveying of the paint of KPCL approved color with hardener, thinner and other materials etc. as and when required to work spot shall be done by the contractor. 4. All the materials required for surface preparation and coating shall be supplied by the Contractor. 5. The surface shall be inspected by the Engineer in-charge who will check whether the surface is suitable for applying the paint. 6. Chloride content should be checked prior to application, in event of presence of salts, surface to be neutralized prior to application of coating. 7. After cleaned surface is approved, one coat of rust inhibitive compound and two coats of high performance high solid anticorrosive epoxy coating should be applied. The thickness of the rust inhibitive compound coating should be 40 to 50 microns. The total thickness of the coating after two coats of epoxy painting should be 250 microns. 8. On application of polymer epoxy coating WFT (Wet Film Thickness) is to be measured & recorded 9. On final curing DFT (Dry Film Thickness) is to be measured & recorded 10. Full cure test to be done with pre - approved method 11. Joint Certification along with KPCL Engineers for satisfactory levels of surface preparation & painting for every 100 Sq. mtrs. has to be furnished by the contractor. 12. Test for checking hollowness on the coated surface to be done with pre- approved instruments.
